1. What is The Timothy Initiative?
The Timothy Initiative is a global Christian ministry focused on making disciples and planting churches in places where people have little or no access to the Gospel. We train local believers to reach their own communities, so the work multiplies and continues generation after generation.
2. Can I give a non-cash gift (ex. physical property, trusts, or other gifts)?

3. Why does TTI use local leaders instead of sending missionaries?
Local leaders already know the language, culture, and people. That means the Gospel can spread faster, more naturally, and more sustainably. Instead of relying on outside missionaries, we equip local believers to reach their own communities, which allows churches to multiply and continue long-term without dependence on outside support.
4. How does TTI plant churches?
We follow a simple, biblical model from 2 Timothy 2:2 where leaders train others who then train others. Local pastors train believers to make disciples, those disciples become disciple-makers, and new churches are planted as that process multiplies.
5. How does TTI plant a church for only $400?

That figure comes from a 10-year historical average of total ministry expenses divided by the number of churches planted. Everything TTI does goes toward making disciples and planting churches, so every dollar you give does just that, it includes everything, not just field activity.

That $400 helps fund:

  • Training materials and curriculum
  • Training teams
  • Ongoing leadership development
  • Infrastructure and support systems
  • Reporting, verification, and accountability processes
  • Administrative and operational costs, offices & office staff, etc.

It’s a number that reflects the entire ministry working together to plant multiplying churches in 50+ nations across Africa, Asia, the Americas, and our recent expansion into Europe.

6. What impact does one church typically have?
On average, each church results in 12–17 new disciples, raises new leaders, and impacts widows or orphans in the community. And because each church is designed to multiply, the impact continues to grow beyond that first church. One church may well end up planting several more over the next few years.
7. How many churches has TTI planted?
To date, TTI has planted 267,718 churches, seen 2,392,427 disciples made, impacted 182,565 widows and orphans, and reached 1,751 unreached people groups.
8. Where does TTI work?
We work in over 50 countries, focusing on places where there is little or no access to the Gospel, often in remote villages and least-reached places.
9. Can I give to a specific county or region?
Gifts given through the Moody campaign will go into a global church planting fund and won’t be tied to a specific country or region.

10. What does a church look like in TTI?

At TTI, a church is defined by what we see in the first churches in Acts; it can meet in a home, under a tree, in a barber shop, or in any space available.

A TTI church:

  • Is led by biblically qualified leaders
  • Gathers regularly
  • Worships, prays, and studies God’s Word
  • Observes the ordinances
  • Shares the Gospel with others
  • Intentionally multiplies disciples
11. How do you ensure accountability and integrity?
Every church is visited at least twice, every training center multiple times, and leaders submit regular reports. These are reviewed and verified by a global system of field representatives and staff, so the numbers we share are accurate and trustworthy.
12. What happens after a church is planted?

Each church continues under the authority of biblically qualified local leaders and within local church structures or denominations.

They are trained, supported, and held accountable, and they continue making disciples and planting new churches, so the movement keeps growing.

13. How is Moody Radio involved?
Moody Radio only partners with a small number of ministries each year for these kinds of fundraising events. They’ve been compelled by what God is doing through TTI and want to help share this work with their listeners and invite more people to be part of it.
14. How does my gift make a difference?
Everything TTI does is focused on making disciples and planting churches, so your gift directly fuels that mission. It helps bring the Gospel to people who have never heard and supports a model that multiplies far beyond a single new believer or church.
15. Can I fund more than one church?
Yes. You can choose how many churches you’d like to fund, whether that’s one or many, depending on what God is leading you to do.
16. Will I receive pictures of the churches I fund or be able to visit them?

No, and that’s intentional. TTI isn’t structured to connect donors to specific churches. Doing so would significantly increase costs and, more importantly, create security risks in many of the places where we work.

Instead, we focus on maximizing impact and protecting the people on the ground.

17. What is the vision of The Timothy Initiative?

To see a church in every village, everywhere.

18. How can I be involved beyond giving?

19. How fast is this work growing?
TTI is currently planting over 100 churches per day on average, as the model continues to multiply through local leaders.
20. What is the long-term goal of this work?
The goal is to see self-sustaining, multiplying churches established in every place where the Gospel is not yet accessible, so that every person in the world has Gospel access.
21. Why should I trust this model over others?
There are many missional models of disciple making and church planting being employed by organizations around the world, and The Timothy Initiative loves them, champions them, and partners with many of them. The TTI model is simple, biblical, proven, and sustainable. It prioritizes local leadership, multiplication, and accountability, which allows the Gospel to spread quickly while remaining sustainable and cost-effective.
